Stent For Fiberglass Rods
Stent For Fibreglass Rods
The nature of fibreglass rods means they are constructed with thicker butt sections, what this means for the rod builder is the need to use a larger oversized reel seats and insert that can be bored out to fit the bigger butt, to overcome this the simple act of fitting a stent which will step down the butt end to either 8mm or 100mm depending on the blank it’s being fitted too.
If you preferred to use smaller hardware a stent would need to be fitted, a straightforward job by removing the same length of reel seat from the lower butt section of the blank and epoxying in the stent, this would protrude the same as the length of butt removed.
For FRC Ogawa blanks up to a 5wt you will need an 8mm stent, for 6wt and above a 10mm stent is needed.
If you prefer we can fit stents in-house for £20, parts and labour.
