Golden Camphor

One of my favourite woods to turn as it fills the workshop with nose tingling menthol-like fragrances and is a nice wood to work with as it scrapes uniformly and rarely has voids.

My current stock of blanks was rescued from a Japanese tree brought down in a tropical storm in 2012, the estimated age is over 500 years old and has over time developed amazing tightly packed knots and distorted grain with no insert looking the same. A light coloured wood that works well with most hardware colours especially our black and antique gold.
